What is the communion of saints?

The communion of saints is the spiritual solidarity uniting all members of Christ's Body — the Church Militant (faithful on earth), the Church Suffering (souls in purgatory), and the Church Triumphant (saints in heaven) — sharing in the same life of grace, interceding for one another, and together ordered toward God's glory.

The Three States of the Church

These three states are not isolated from one another. The same charity that animates the Body of Christ on earth reaches through death and glorification, binding all three into one communion.
