What are the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church?

The seven sacraments are Baptism, Confirmation, the Eucharist, Penance (Reconciliation), Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders, and Matrimony. Instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church, they are efficacious signs of grace that sanctify human life, build up the Body of Christ, and give worship to God.

How the Seven Sacraments Are Grouped

Three sacraments — Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Orders — imprint an indelible spiritual character on the soul and therefore cannot be repeated (CCC 1121).
