Can a divorced Catholic receive Communion?

A divorced Catholic who has not remarried outside the Church may receive Communion. A divorced Catholic who has entered a new civil union without an annulment is in an irregular marriage and, while still welcome at Mass, is ordinarily asked to refrain from receiving Communion until the situation is resolved.
