Good morning. Today we step into the moment when young Jeremiah protested that he was too young to speak, and God answered him directly.
Today's Verse
"Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child. But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD."— Jeremiah 1:4-8
Reflection
Jeremiah did not stride into his calling with bold speeches. He objected plainly: he was young and did not know how to speak. God did not flatter him or change the assignment. He answered the fear itself: go where I send you, say what I give you, and do not fear their faces. In seasons like autumn, when roles shift at work, school, or home, confidence often begins the same way—not in feeling ready, but in taking the next faithful step.
Confidence grows when you stop measuring your age or ability and start trusting the task God has put in front of you.
1-Minute Study: Understanding confidence
Biblical confidence is not loud personality or self-promotion. In Jeremiah 1, confidence begins with honesty: “I am a child.” Jeremiah names his weakness, and God answers with direction, boundaries, and presence. He does not tell Jeremiah to invent a stronger self-image. He tells him where to go, what to say, and why he need not panic: “I am with thee.” That is sturdy confidence—borrowed courage rooted in God’s call. We see this pattern elsewhere. Timothy was also young, yet Paul told him not to let others despise his youth, but to be an example in speech, conduct, charity, spirit, faith, and purity. Moses feared speaking, and God still sent him. Confidence in Scripture is often obedience before comfort. In daily life, this may look like speaking up in a meeting, starting a difficult conversation, applying for a role beyond your experience, or setting a needed boundary. Confidence is not pretending you have no fear; it is refusing to let fear make the decision.

Prayer of the Day
Lord God, When Jeremiah said he was only a child, Thou didst answer him with Thy call and Thy presence. Teach me the same confidence when I feel too inexperienced, too quiet, or too uncertain. Help me to go where Thou sendest me, speak what is true, and not fear the faces before me. Be with me today, and deliver me from shrinking back. Amen.
Today's Challenge
Choose one task you have been avoiding because you feel too inexperienced—send the email, make the call, or speak in the meeting before noon today.
