Good morning. Today we step beside Elijah at the brook Cherith, where God used ravens and running water to sustain him. In that unusual provision, we see what trust looks like when tomorrow is uncertain.
Today's Verse
"And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there. So he went and did according unto the word of the Lord: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan. And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook."— 1 Kings 17:4-6
Reflection
Elijah did not invent his own rescue plan during the drought. He went to Cherith, stayed by the brook, and received food from ravens morning and evening. The story is concrete: a hungry prophet, a dry season, birds carrying bread and flesh, water enough for that day. Trust often looks like this now—showing up for work after a layoff scare, following a budget during rising grocery costs, or waiting faithfully while caring for a sick parent.
Trust is obeying God's direction one day at a time, even when provision arrives in an unexpected way.
1-Minute Study: Understanding trust
Trust in Scripture is not vague optimism; it is choosing to rely on God when circumstances look thin. Elijah trusted by going to the exact place God named: the brook Cherith. He did not know how ravens would feed him, only that God had spoken. That matters during harvest season, when we count what has come in and notice what still seems lacking. Trust means thanking God for today's bread without demanding next month's full map. We see the same pattern elsewhere. Israel gathered manna one day at a time. David said he had not seen the righteous forsaken. Elijah's story adds a striking detail: provision came through unlikely messengers. Trust grows when we stop measuring God's care only by familiar channels—a paycheck, a plan, a timeline—and begin noticing his faithfulness in meals shared, help offered, and strength given for the next task.

Prayer of the Day
Lord, you met Elijah at the brook and fed him by ravens. Teach me the same steady trust when resources feel small and the future feels dry. Help me obey what you have already shown me and receive today's provision with gratitude. Make me attentive to the unexpected ways you care for me.
Today's Challenge
Identify one current need you keep trying to control, then write down one faithful step for today and one specific provision from God you can thank Him for before dinner.
