Good morning. Today we sit with the Syrophoenician mother in Mark 7, a woman who kept speaking to Jesus for her daughter when every obstacle told her to stop.
Today's Verse
"For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of him, and came and fell at his feet: The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter. But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it unto the dogs. And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs. And he said unto her, For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter. And when she was come to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed."— Mark 7:25-30
Reflection
A mother heard that Jesus was near, entered the house, fell at His feet, and kept asking for her tormented daughter. Even when answered with a hard saying, she did not storm out or grow silent; she replied with humble persistence. Then she went home and found her child restored. Persistence often looks like this now: making another phone call for help, praying again for a struggling son, returning to a hard conversation, and refusing to quit on someone you love.
Persistence keeps kneeling, speaking truthfully, and returning until the needed mercy is received.
1-Minute Study: Understanding persistence
Persistence in Scripture is not stubborn pride; it is steady faith that refuses to walk away empty when real need is present. The Syrophoenician woman did not demand status, argue her rights, or pretend her pain was small. She named the need plainly: her daughter was suffering. When Jesus tested her, she stayed low, answered wisely, and kept asking. Her persistence was humble, quick-minded, and focused on mercy. This matters in ordinary life. Persistence is the parent who keeps seeking wise care for a child, the spouse who keeps trying to repair trust, the worker who keeps acting honestly through a long season of uncertainty. In harvest season, we remember that crops do not appear after one day in the field. Seed, weather, waiting, and repeated labor all matter. God often grows answers the same way. Persistence does not force God's hand; it keeps us near Him long enough to receive what He provides.

Prayer of the Day
Lord Jesus, You heard the Syrophoenician mother when she would not stop asking for her daughter. Teach me that same persistence—humble, honest, and steady. When answers seem delayed, keep me near Your feet instead of sending me away in discouragement. Provide what is needed for those I carry in prayer today. Amen.
Today's Challenge
Choose one person or problem you have nearly stopped praying or working for, and today take one concrete step again—make the call, send the message, schedule the appointment, or pray by name for ten focused minutes.
