Good morning. In Ephesians 6, Paul does not show a soldier improvising in the middle of attack; he shows him already dressed, piece by piece, before the battle starts.
Today's Verse
"Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:"— Ephesians 6:13-17
Reflection
Paul describes a soldier tightening his belt, fastening his breastplate, fitting his sandals, lifting shield and sword. The point is concrete: armor is put on before arrows fly. Preparation works the same way for us. In harvest season, farmers do not wait for the field to ripen before sharpening tools. Before a tense meeting, a hard family conversation, or a lonely evening, truth, Scripture, and practiced faith steady our steps.
Preparation is the quiet obedience of putting on God’s armor before the pressure arrives.
1-Minute Study: Understanding preparation
Preparation in Ephesians 6 is not nervous scrambling; it is disciplined readiness. Paul says our feet are to be shod with “the preparation of the gospel of peace.” Shoes matter before the march begins. A soldier without footing slips when pressure comes. In the same way, a Christian who has not filled the mind with truth, confessed sin, and remembered the gospel will struggle to stand when accusation, temptation, or confusion arrives. Scripture shows this pattern often. Noah prepared the ark before the rain fell. Joseph stored grain before the famine came. The wise virgins kept oil before the bridegroom arrived. Preparation is faith acting early. During harvest season, this virtue becomes especially visible: seed, soil, and tools are tended long before baskets are filled. Gratitude for God’s provision does not cancel preparation; it strengthens it. We prepare because God is faithful to provide what we need for the day and strength for the battle.

Prayer of the Day
Lord, as Paul pictured the soldier standing fully armed, teach me to prepare before the strain of the day begins. Fasten me in truth, steady me in righteousness, and fit my feet with the gospel of peace. In this season of harvest, make me grateful for Your provision and diligent in holy readiness. Amen.
Today's Challenge
Before checking your phone tomorrow, read Ephesians 6:13-17 aloud and write one situation in the day that will require you to stand with prepared feet.
