Dear Reader, today we delve into Ruth's story of dedication as she gleans in the fields of Boaz.
Today's Verse
"And Ruth the Moabitess said unto Naomi, Let me now go to the field, and glean ears of corn after him in whose sight I shall find grace. And she said unto her, Go, my daughter. And she went, and came, and gleaned in the field after the reapers: and her hap was to light on a part of the field belonging unto Boaz, who was of the kindred of Elimelech. And, behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and said unto the reapers, The Lord be with you. And they answered him, The Lord bless thee. Then said Boaz unto his servant that was set over the reapers, Whose damsel is this? And the servant that was set over the reapers answered and said, It is the Moabitish damsel that came back with Naomi out of the country of Moab: And she said, I pray you, let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves: so she came, and hath continued even from the morning until now, that she tarried a little in the house."— Ruth 2:2-7
Reflection
Ruth's story unfolds as she diligently works in the fields of Boaz, seeking to provide for herself and Naomi. Her dedication and hard work do not go unnoticed. In our lives, diligence may be the key to open doors of opportunity and favor, just as it was for Ruth. Whether in our jobs or personal goals, faithful effort can yield unexpected blessings.
Diligence paves the way for unexpected blessings and opportunities.
1-Minute Study: Understanding Diligence
Diligence is more than persistent hard work; it is a steadfast commitment to a task regardless of immediate rewards. Ruth exemplifies this as she tirelessly works in the fields. Her diligence catches the attention of Boaz, who later becomes her redeemer. In the New Testament, the Apostle Paul encourages believers to work heartily, as for the Lord (Colossians 3:23). Diligence is a virtue that fosters growth, both personally and within communities, much like how the early Church grew through the steadfast efforts of its members, empowered by the Holy Spirit.
