Dear Friends, today we delve into Nathanael's initial doubt and his eventual embrace of faith through openness.
Today's Verse
"Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph. And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see. Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile! Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee. Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel. Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these. And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man."— John 1:45-51
Reflection
Nathanael's initial skepticism about Jesus ('Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?') is met with Philip's invitation to 'Come and see.' Upon meeting Jesus, Nathanael's heart opens to the truth. In our modern lives, when faced with doubts, approaching situations with openness can lead us to unexpected truths and deeper connections.
Openness allows us to transform doubt into discovery.

Openness is the willingness to consider new ideas and experiences. Nathanael's encounter with Jesus is a perfect example: despite his initial doubt, he was open enough to investigate further. This openness led him to a profound faith. Similarly, in our daily interactions, being open can lead to personal growth and stronger relationships. Like Nathanael, when we allow ourselves to 'come and see,' we may find greater things awaiting us.

Prayer of the Day
Lord, grant me the openness of heart that Nathanael showed. Help me to set aside my doubts and approach each day with a willingness to see Your presence. May I embrace the new experiences and insights You place before me. Amen.
