Samuel's Obedient Response to God's Call

Today's Verse

"Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, LORD; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place. And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth."

Reflection

The story of Samuel begins with a young boy attentive to the voice of God. Under Eli's guidance, Samuel learns to recognize and respond to God's call with obedience. In our lives today, much like Samuel, we are called to listen for God's voice amidst the noise, responding with a willing heart. Obedience opens the door to new beginnings, much like the promise of resurrection we celebrate this Easter season.
